A pic I took at the lake while on vacation last week. Simple pleasures.
I went to Tulsa today to purchase a new truck. It was a 5 hour drive, but well worth it. I have a buddy that works at Riverside Toyota in Tulsa, OK and last week he posted up on Facebook that due to the Toyota recall, he could only sell a few models including the Tacoma. I mentioned that I was looking at Tacomas. We then began negotiations on Facebook. Yes…on Facebook. They were able to work their magic and go the truck to a price that worked for me and so today I made the journey to pick up the truck. These are some mobile photos from the journey.

Bathroom sign at a toll road gas station.

Oklahoma tolls. This was a small portion of what I paid overall. I think I dropped close to $20 in tolls overall! It wouldn’t be too bad if their roads weren’t so bad. Although, they aren’t as bad as they used to be.

Odometer: 20. When I got the vehicle it only had 7 miles on it before the test drive.

Headed home. Oklahoma was destroyed by the winter storm last week. I was going to try to get the truck on Saturday, but the roads were still hazardous which made me hold off until today. I passed several vehicles stranded WAY off the road during my drive up. It looked like they lost control when the roads were much worse. To top it off, they didn’t get any sunshine to melt the snow which is why it has lasted this long. Snow in the south usually doesn’t last more than a few hours to a day or two.

Crossing back into Texas. Notice the dark spots of disgusting water on the hood? Melted snow + traffic + salt = nastiness

Snow in the bed after the trip. A lot of it had melted. When I started the trip the bed was almost full of snow and ice. I stopped by the car wash to rinse off the salty road water from the trip. I decided to spray out the snow/ice as well.

Chunks of ice on the ground after clearing the bed.

Chunks of ice as seen in the rear view camera.

The truck after rinsing it off.

A better pic of the truck.
All in all I was really impressed with Riverside Toyota. They have a lot of great people working there and went above and beyond to make the deal. I was also impressed with the “bonuses” they give their customers with every new vehicle. I was a little hesitant at first about making a 5 hour drive to buy a vehicle, but it was well worth the drive and I highly recommend them to anyone in the Tulsa area or willing to cruise up there for a great deal.
